Upasana Shah | PHD

I completed my graduation in 2020, with a B.Sc. in Life Sciences from St. Xavier's College (India), and M.Sc. in Behavioural and Cognitive Neuroscience from the University of Groningen (Netherlands), in 2023. As part of my thesis, I studied the mechanisms of emotional action control using fMRI data, which further got me interested in the field of cognitive control. In 2023, I joined the Motivational and Cognitive Control lab as a research assistant within the Language in Interaction consortium. I was involved in the data collection and analyses of a pharmaco-fMRI study investigating the role of dopamine in inference for language and planning.

For my PhD, I will make use of fMRI and PET imaging to investigate the behavioural and neuro-chemical effects of different levels of control over stressful situations.
