Viane Favennec | TRAINEE
Viane Favennec graduated in 2024 from Keele University with a BSc (Hons) in Neuroscience. At Keele, she worked in Simon Trent’s lab to investigate neuroplastic protein expression, such as Arc, in Cyfip1 knock-out mice, strengthening her expertise in animal models of neuropsychiatric disorders. She also contributed to the development of an Arc immunoprecipitation protocol aimed at determining whether Cyfip1 and Cyfip2 are functionally linked within neuroplasticity pathways. During her bachelor’s internship, she studied blood potential biomarkers for schizophrenia in cognitively impaired mice using Western blot.
Currently, Viane is pursuing a Research Master’s in Cognitive Neuroscience at Radboud University, within the Perception, Action & Decision-Making track. Her focus has shifted from molecular neuroscience to neuroimaging methods, such as fMRI, to study how brain activity drives behaviour. During her master’s internship, she aims to examine the neural effects of mindfulness in individuals prone to rumination, aiming to establish its therapeutic potential in releasing rumination, a symptom highly prevalent in depression. Looking forward, Viane aspires to work in neuropsychiatry and behavioural neuroscience, using neuroimaging insights to improve clinical approaches.
